Winter Sports have kept our students warm, both with indoor sport opportunities, and high intensity ball sports, outside!
Following on from the Netball Victoria School Championships, our students have been busy with trials and training for the upcoming CGSAV events (4 and 16 September), and our Champion Intermediate team will be playing in their finals event on Wednesday 10 September.
Volleyball saw a huge number of students attending trials, with only 55 selected to represent the College at the CGSAV Tournament in tough competition.
Defending their titles, the Aerobics A and B teams, won their division, with excellent execution and synchronization. All seven of the OLSH teams demonstrated great team work and commitment to each other with frequent practices, to ensure their routine on the day scored well. With many newcomers to the Aerobics teams, we know OLSH will continue to do well in this sport.
Our Intermediate athletes continue their domination in all areas of sport, with a win at the CGSAV Soccer Tournament on Tuesday 26 August. With a few nail-biting matches, the team made it through to the GF with a penalty shoot off to take the win. A huge well done to Sophie J (Year 10) who was awarded player of the day! Congratulations to the Junior team, with a few students playing Soccer for the first time!
Following on from a great result at the CGSAV Cross Country Carnival, Isabelle G (Year 12) was selected to represent CGSAV at the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria Cross Country Carnival. Isabelle competed the 3km course at Yarra Valley Grammar on 15 August, with a fast 12:34! Well done to Isabelle being selected as, and competing against, the best school Cross Country runners!
Outside of OLSH, we celebrate the outstanding achievements of Keeley W (Year 10) who recently competed at the Australian Pool Rescue Championships! She had a great experience, with many personal best times, and is now off to the Victorian Age Short Course Championships! Well done, Keeley!
