We hope you are having a fabulous week, full of the perfect mix of excitement, productivity and relaxation. Can you believe we are already half way through Term 3? 2025 is flying past and the Year 12s can attest to this! There have been so many fun, impactful moments through this school year, so we just wanted everyone to take a moment to reflect.
Ask these questions to yourself:
What has been the best moment so far?
What is something you have learnt?
Have you changed in any way?
Where do you want to be by the end of the year?
Daffodil Day
This week on Monday the 25th of August, our Regent Christus captains celebrated Cancer Councils Daffodil Day! This day focuses on raising funds for the foundation, towards life-saving research and support around the diseases. This day is a nationally recognised fundraiser, bringing awareness and hope to many Australians.
Our Regent Christus captains took the role of planning and organising a fun day involving handing out stickers to students entering the gates, a yellow themed tasty bake sale, and encouraging students to wear yellow ribbons. It was a great success, all the sweet treats were devoured with not a crumb left, and plenty of yellow ribbons and stickers were shining around the school.
Year 11 Retreat
Our year 11 students woke up bright and early on Monday morning, ready to take on the two hour bus ride to their retreat at Lake Dewar. This camp is a different sort of camp, where students are challenged to reflect on themselves and their OLSH journey so far.
It is by far one of the most memorable camps to go on. It may not be filled with the usual camp activities, but the days are filled with connection activities, learning about each other on a deeper level. Over the years, this camp has brought year levels closer, leaving as sisters rather than peers, a perfect pathway as they roll into their final year.
This retreat also begins their journeys of Year 12 leadership. Here they learn about what it means to be a leader, and how leadership can shine in all different forms. It’s crazy to think that we were at that lake, same time last year, feeling a sense of fear and excitement for what the future holds. Well, the biggest thing we can say to our year 11s and anyone for that matter, is to give it a go! Take that dive! You never know where it can take you.
Feast Day
Back at school, we are in planning mode as we approach one of the biggest days of the year, our OLSH Feast Day!
Our community will come together on the 12th of September, to celebrate Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, or better known as Mary. We recognise the life herself and Jesus lived, full of love, care and forgiveness. Here we also celebrate our OLSH community around the world with the OLSH Mission. This mission is a group of the daughters and sisters of Mary, who spread love throughout the world, working on bringing hope to the suffering through a range of projects.
So, our Feast day is all about raising money towards these missions, giving hope and a place to begin for those who need it.
As this day is a costume day, the leadership team is lucky enough to pick the theme! This year's theme is:
“Oceans Apart, Together at Heart”
This theme is all about embracing your culture, background and being proud of who you are. Students may want to dress up as their home country, a mix of cultures or take a completely holistic view and dress up as something to do with water (marine life, lifesaver, surfer, water drops).
To support this day in raising money for the OLSH Sisters, we ask everyone to dig deep and make a donation, even if it’s something small! We are also looking for possible prizes to be won, so if you work with a business that is willing to donate some prizes or even food (vouchers, chocolate, bread), please let us know, we will all be very excited to talk to you!!
We wish everyone to enjoy the last few days of their winter, and look forward for what's to come!
Lots of Love,
Keiva, Gabi, Eve, Lucille
