Connection and Spirit

Our House system plays a vital role in fostering strong relationships among our students, offering meaningful opportunities to connect across all year levels and through a wide range of activities. This deep sense of belonging and House spirit was especially evident during our the Feast Of The Sacred Heart, where the entire school came together for the Performing Arts Spectacular.

Throughout Term 2, students devoted time and energy to planning and preparing for this much-anticipated event. What stood out most this year was the collegiality, connection, and powerful sense of House identity within each group. Our student leaders were instrumental in creating this inclusive environment, ensuring that every student—regardless of year level—felt equally valued and involved.

A heartfelt congratulations to our Year 12 House Leaders, Hannah, Charli, Kiara and Madeleine. Your leadership, support, and positive influence had a lasting impact on every girl in your House.

Although we have four distinct Houses, our OLSH spirit was truly palpable on the day. Events like these are where community is built, and where true belonging is cultivated.

Preparing for exams

As our senior students start to prepare for their upcoming exams and assessment this month on SchoolTV, parents will find advice on how to help students cope with the pressure and how students can work smarter to achieve the results they desire.

Exams are like a game. Once you know how to play the game, your chances of achieving great results rapidly increase. Parents can learn how to assist their daughters to maintain perspective during exam and assessment time.

Diet, exercise and sleep all play an important part in helping a student balance a busy schedule and study smarter. Keeping stress levels to a minimum and reducing anxiety can be easily achieved through careful planning and having a supportive environment.

Reporting School Absence

We launched our new intranet, Ametur, this week enabling the switch to online absence recording by parents and caregivers. This is a great advancement as the absence information you provide goes directly into our attendance system so we have better accuracy about a student’s whereabouts.

The system allows us to notify you if your daughter has been recorded as absent from school, and also when your daughter signs in at student reception after the start of school or, with prior approval, signs out before the end of school.

Since the start of the week we have received over 400 notifications from parents regarding appointments, illness and holidays for dates through to mid-June. We have sent more than 800 emails or SMS notifications to parents advising of unexplained attendances or sign ins/outs. Thank you for embracing this change to help us uphold the safety and pastoral care of all students.

Please note that all notified absences should be submitted prior to start of school to avoid receiving an absence notification. We have created this short video showing how to record a student absence.
