The words of Psalm 107 remind us to "Give thanks to God, for God is good; God’s faithful love lasts forever." In this spirit of gratitude, our College community has been celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH), giving thanks for the rich legacy and inspiring story of the OLSH Sisters.

We were delighted to welcome many Sisters to these celebrations, including those from our OLSH Bentleigh community and others from across Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia. We were especially blessed to have the Provincial Leader, Sr Philippa Murphy, join us for the Feast of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, along with Sisters from the international missions in Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, and Tonga and students and staff from our sister schools OLSH College Enfield (Adelaide) and OLSH College Kensington (Sydney).

After a sacred and moving Eucharistic Liturgy that opened our feast day, the College Mission Carnival began. Through the incredible generosity of our students, families and staff, more than $26,000 was raised for the OLSH Sisters Overseas Aid Fund. These funds will directly support the missions of Sisters Freda (Papua New Guinea), Emma (Philippines), Vita (Samoa), and Annabella (Tonga), helping the people in these regions. We are deeply grateful to these Sisters for spending time with our OLSH community, sharing the stories of their work, and explaining how these generous donations will provide much-needed aid to those they serve. We are deeply grateful to each of these Sisters for spending time with our OLSH community, sharing the stories of their work, and explaining how these generous donations will help those in need across their regions.

Nothing happens by chance—it is through the designs of God’s heart that the great story of the OLSH Sisters has unfolded. In one way or another, we have all been drawn into this story, which was founded on God’s love and continues to share this love across the world.

With deepest gratitude, we honour the OLSH Sisters who celebrated with us, those who have gone before them, and all who serve now and into the future. As we think of you, pray with you, and for you, we echo the words of Psalm 107: "With every breath we are able, we sing of the Goodness of God."

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Everywhere Loved Forever.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart pray for us.
