Inspiring inclusion

The 2024, International Women’s Day theme is “Inspire Inclusion”. We are called to continue to value and seek the inclusion of women and girls in all that we do. The theme “inspire inclusion” if truly valued is lived from the heart. As Heart people we are called to inspire our students ensuring their needs, interests and aspirations are valued and included. In what ways do we value the needs, interests and aspirations of our students?

  • Supporting women and girls into leadership - The OLSH Student Leadership team gives all students a voice from years 7 to 12. All voices are valued and are equal. This week our Student Leaders took part in a student leadership workshop run by yLead, forming and bonding as team, sharing ideas and planning for the year ahead. OLSH inspiring inclusion through leadership.
    • 'This workshop encouraged me to branch out, get to know the other student leaders, and work with them as a team. The yLead Team made the workshop fun and engaging, and I look forward to the rest of the year with the 2024 leadership team.' - Leni
  • Elevating girl’s participation and achievement in sport -  A great day celebrating our House spirit was enjoyed by all at the annual OLSH swimming carnival. Whilst we have four very competitive Houses, we share one OLSH spirit. Despite the different swimming abilities of the competitors, the willingness of students to participate physically or by supporting one another was evident throughout the day. House allegiance was very strong. OLSH inspiring inclusion through sport.
  • Providing women and girls with access to quality education and training - Through our efforts in raising money to support Caritas and the work of the OLSH Sisters overseas, we will be able to support the education of girls in other parts of the world. Through Xavier’s bake sale, Sweeney’s snow cones, Hartzer’s BBQ, Chevalier’s McFlurries and generous donations, we too will be making a difference in providing access to education to girls around the world. Thank you to Baker’s Delight Southland and Aaliyah Yr 11 who kindly donated the bread for the BBQ. When we live from the Heart we can ensure that the aspirations and interests of our girls are valued and included.
