Advent spirit of joy

Together last Friday, we came together for our College Advent Mass, celebrated by Fr Martin Tanti. We lit the first candle in the Advent wreath for the first week of Advent. We sang and prayed together. Our liturgical singers and band were brilliant as they led us through our eucharistic celebration with such a spirit of joy!

At communion, we received Jesus so as to become Jesus for our world. We heard from Herbert Portanier (one of our St Vincent De Paul friends) who thanked us for our generous, ongoing support of SVDP throughout 2025.

Thank you to our Faith and Mission Captains who led us so prayerfully though our final Mass for 2024.

Wishing Christmas blessings and peace to all.

Ms Megan Donohue
Deputy Principal Faith and Mission

Advent Festival - Thank you!

Thank you to parents, caregivers, students and staff for your generous support of our Advent Festival! Across 3 days, we raised $2700 which will go directly to our local St Vincent De Paul conferences. All the monies raised will go towards providing much needed food, clothing and gifts to those in need this Christmas.

OLSH College Bentleigh

An Attitude of the Heart: Laudato Si at OLSH College Bentleigh!

On Wednesday November 27, the College facilitated a further session for an expanded OLSH College Laudato Si group inclusive of Sr Liz Taylor, the OLSH College Bentleigh Leadership Team, students, staff and a representative from our parent and grandparent body. The session was facilitated by Jacqui Remond and Megan Donohue and included:

  • a shared outdoor prayer led by Sr Liz
  • a brief overview on our Laudato Si journey this far (inclusive of staff days, student initiatives and the College community response to Pope Francis’ The Letter)
  • a visit to the OLSH Sisters’ garden (a wonderful example of integral ecology)
  • time to enjoy the garden individually and in small groups
  • sharing dialogue about what Laudato Si means for our curriculum, ecological footprint and College grounds.

We also had Dr. Iain Jennings join our gathering. Iain is a local and internationally experienced leader of change in the electricity industry. Prior to coming onsite, Iain undertook an audit of energy use at the College and he then enjoyed a site visit as part of the day.

Thank you to Jacqui Remond for her assistance in co-creating this session and to Dr Iain Jennings for being with us on the day. Thank you to our wonderful OLSH students who actively participated in this very important session.
