Our Year 11 students supported the 'In the Bag' campaign, by bringing in essential items and toiletries for women, teens and babies in need. The campaign is run by Share the Dignity, an Australian charity dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of women and girls facing difficult circumstances. Well done to our students for making Christmas brighter for those who are vulnerable.

It all begins here: World Kindness Day
On November 13 we celebrated World Kindness Day at the College. It’s an annual awareness day that calls us to act with kindness in our daily lives, in our schools, workplaces and homes. In all pastoral care classes students were asked to make a commitment to kindness to self, to OLSH, to their family and to the wider community.
Research tells us, that being kind can have just as many benefits to the giver as it does to those receiving it. It improves overall wellbeing and mental health. Kindness however, needs to begin with self. Self-compassion is not being self-centered, it is necessary to love oneself in order to love others. Our constant friend in life is the voice inside our head.
For many of us the relationship between ourselves and the voice is often negative. We need to begin by being a friend to ourselves so that we can show love, empathy and compassion to others.

Challenging our thoughts, forgiving ourselves, having a growth mindset are all ways that we can show kindness to self. It all begins here!
It all begins here: Year 7 Orientation Day
This week we also welcomed 141 Year 7 students for 2025. Their secondary educational journey begins here. From over thirty four primary schools, the students took part in ice-breaker activities, made cake in a mug during food and technology, sewed a pin cushion, danced during their performing arts session, and showed their musical talents. We are blessed to have them and their parents join the OLSH community.
