Dear Family and Friends of OLSH College,
On 27 August we celebrate and remember Mother Marie Louise Hartzer - the first Superior General of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Fired by her deep love for God, her courage to take the risk and bring to reality the vision of Jules Chevalier is at the heart of the story of our OLSH sisters. As woman, mother, widow, refugee and leader – Marie Louise Hartzer’s story is one of faith, hope and love – “the greatest is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).
In this 85th anniversary year of OLSH College Bentleigh it is important for us to connect to the story of our Heart Spirituality – for this is our tradition. In the life and example of Marie Louise Hartzer we hear of a faith-filled Heart woman who reverenced relationships, pursued excellence, and touched the hearts of others.
These last few days it has been a privilege for our College to host the annual OLSH Colleges Leadership Conference. We have welcomed the principals from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Enfield SA - Ms Maria Urbano, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Kensington NSW - Ms Vivienne Awad, and their leadership teams to our school. Together we have spent time growing our collegiality and learning about the riches of our OLSH Charism. Sincere thanks to our presenters across these days, Sr Elaine Cochrane olsh, Sr Gerardine Doherty olsh, Sr Elizabeth Taylor olsh and Fr Richard Leonard sj. We are indeed a blessed community to be members of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart worldwide family.
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord.” Psalm 92
United always in our shared OLSH Spirit,
Anne O'Loughlin
