Thanks for a great Term 2

Throughout Term 2, the leadership team has worked extremely hard to execute many events and initiatives. From Athletics Day to PAS, we wanted to highlight the amazing efforts of all the house leaders, especially the Senior House Captains who put in many hours both inside and outside of school. It was great to see everyone’s hard work pay off with two fun days of high participation and House spirit.

Term 2 also marked the beginning of a new Student Leader initiative called Be True Tuesdays. In line with our theme of the year—Be Real, Be True, Be You—the Be True Tuesday involves a weekly question (released every Tuesday) for the whole school community, to be answered in homerooms and throughout the day. Our aim for this initiative is to encourage the idea that vulnerability is not only a strength, but a great way for us to learn about each other. Over the past few weeks, it has been great to see the students hop on board with this initiative and we hope next Term it is able to grow even further.

In the second last week of Term 2, it was also great to have Year 11 Performing Arts captain, Isabel Stewart, host the final lunchtime concert of the Term! The talent on the day was very impressive; from singers to magicians, it was a great afternoon of entertainment.

The Student Leaders would like to wish everyone a restful break and we are excited for an exceptional Term 3!

Favourite subjects: Music and Drama

Favourite OLSH memory: Going on Year 12 retreat in NSW - I had such an amazing time bonding with my existing friends and becoming closer with others in my grade. And of course, the gorgeous Hartzer Park grounds and summer in Sydney made for a very enjoyable week!

Describe OLSH in three words: Inviting, accepting, and nurturing

Career aspiration: I’d love to become a musician! Otherwise, definitely a job where I can perform on stage.

What has your leadership role taught you: This role has taught me that leadership is not just about the big events and massive initiatives, but about the little actions too - greeting people in the hallway, making connections, hearing student voices, and helping others stand up for themselves and their ideas.

Favourite subjects: Health and Human Development and Business Management. These two subjects are extremely interesting and the content is able to be applied to everyday life in the future.

Favourite OLSH memory: Our Year 12 retreat at Hartzer and Sydney. It was an opportunity to strengthen friendships in the year level and we were able to bond as a group. My favorite activity was the walk along Bondi beach. it was extremely refreshing and I formed memories and friendships along the way.

Describe OLSH in three words: Caring, loving and thoughtful. OLSH has a friendly feel where everyone is welcomed and accepted, the school community look out for each other and are extremely compassionate.

Career aspiration: I would like to get into Monash University and complete a business management course. During this time I aspire to travel to Thailand and stay there for a couple of months to pursue my passion of kickboxing.

What has your leadership role taught you: Being a Regnet Christus Leader means to spread positivity and live the OLSH pillars. I took on this role with the intention to spread positivity and kindness so students feel comfortable and confident to be themselves and make decisions without the fear of judgement from others. This role has taught me how to work efficiently and effectively in a group and use the different strengths of each person optimally to achieve a desired outcome.
