Dear Family and Friends of OLSH College,
This newsletter marks our final edition for 2023 as we approach the conclusion of our 85th-anniversary year. With Christmas on the horizon, we invite you to explore some of the concluding activities of the term.
Our fourth OLSH Pillar, 'We are Heart people who touch the hearts of others,' is profoundly evident in our school community. This pillar focuses on authentically living our mission 'to be on earth the Heart of Christ.' Throughout this year, we've witnessed numerous examples of this—from simple conversations to the courage displayed in applying for leadership positions. Whether it's volunteering time to support others through our soup van, participating in community baking, or taking on various volunteer roles, to the warmth of welcoming a new friend into our lives. Be it singing in the choir, representing the College in sports, or making a concerted effort to excel in the classroom and in our relationships, these actions, filled with kindness and thought, are lived examples of what it means to be Heart people.
As we turn our minds and hearts towards the holiday break, celebrating Christmas and welcoming the new year, it's a time to let our hearts be touched by the Christmas story—the constant presence of 'Emmanuel-God with us.' In his writings, Jules Chevalier explores the mystery of the incarnation—God becoming human in Jesus."
Our personal union with Jesus surpasses imagination.
It is not just a union through imitation and love.
It is a mysterious becoming-one-in-life.
The complete Christ consists of Jesus and us.
J. Chevalier, Le Sacre-Coeur, p.80-81
With heartfelt appreciation to students, staff and families for the wonderfully successful 85th anniversary year.
United always in our shared OLSH Spirit,
