A year of opportunities

The start of the term has begun full of great opportunities for our students. The Year 12s have had their Formal, the Year 7s have had camp, we were finally able to get our current Year 12s to Hartzer and Sydney, our Issoudun students received their Issoudun badges, student leaders in Years 8-11 were inducted into the student leadership team and we celebrated our pillar of “touching the hearts of others” on February 14.

All these great opportunities help to build community, connections and a great sense of belonging. As Brene Brown states “Belonging, doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.” As the year progresses we encourage all students to immerse themselves in the opportunities on offer at the College.

We know the more that we involve ourselves in the life of the College, the greater connections that are formed, the improved academic outcomes and wellbeing.

Investiture of our 2023 Leaders

We celebrated the investiture of our Year 8 to 11 2023 Leaders at our Opening Mass earlier this month. We congratulate all of our leaders and wish them well in their roles as they bring to life our OLSH charism and lead those around them in activities throughout the year.

Year 7 camp

Earlier this month, our Year 7s headed off to Lake Dewar for their three day camp which was packed full of water activities, team challenges and getting to know each other.

Over the three days, the girls rotated through various water and land-based activities including kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, raft making, archery, mountain biking and go-karting. It was lovely to see new friendships formed and teams working together on the challenges set for them.

Some of the students shared their experience and highlights of the camp.

"Our favourite activities were the 18 metre flying fox over a canyon, kayaking on Lake Dewar and the wobbly Robbin Hood.
We made new friends – not only in cabin groups, but also in activity groups and during House chants.
There was so much encouragement from friends, peers and teachers and I felt supported and encouraged to participate in all activities.

Watching others have fun encouraged me to extend myself. I felt challenged and pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
I enjoyed jumping off the pier, the most delicious white chocolate and raspberry muffins and sharing the cabin with my peers with lots of laughter."
