Dear Family and Friends of OLSH College,

This year we are excited to be celebrating the 85th anniversary of the foundation of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College Bentleigh. It was in 1938 that the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart – the OLSH Sisters – started the College with an enrolment of five students. On this sacred land of the Bunurong people our OLSH story has unfolded across the past 85 years.

Today we have 734 students enrolled and, like those OLSH sisters who began this great education tradition we too are committed to spreading that flame of love, God’s love throughout our community and beyond into the world. The prayer of the OLSH Sisters every day is May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved. Forever! We join with them in echoing these words and living fully as “Heart People” at OLSH College Bentleigh in 2023.

Congratulations to our Triathlon Team who have, this past week achieved 1st Place in the Catholic Girls Sports Association Victoria competition. Students Years 7-12 are represented in this team and to take out the event as Champion School is an outstanding achievement.

We are also proud of Year 11 student Eva Kokotis who has gained selection in the Junior Matildas Australian Women’s Squad. The Junior Matildas are preparing for Women’s U17 Asian Cup. We congratulate Eva and wish her every success.

In our Liturgical Year we are now in the Season of Lent. This season invariably begins with the question – “What will I give up during Lent?” Perhaps we could also ask a different question…“What will I do during Lent?” What will I do to be the Heart of Christ on earth?

Above all be very kind and considerate to each other….
Have a great spirit of gratitude.
