Advent Mass

We have just celebrated our beautiful Advent Mass. We were delighted to welcome our OLSH Sisters, College Board members and six representatives from our local St. Vincent De Paul conferences to be with us. Fr. Martin Tanti was our main celebrant and his homily reminded us of what is at the heart of this Advent time – a time of waiting and anticipating the joyful arrival of Jesus in our world. As we move through Advent preparing for Christmas and celebrations with family and friends, we are encouraged to take some time to slow down and reflect on the meaning of Christmas. Today in our final prayer, we prayed together:

Advent Festival

Thank you to our school community – OLSH Sisters, students, staff and parents – who have so generously supported our Advent Festival. We have raised approximately $4,500. All monies raised in our Advent festival are going directly to St. Vincent De Paul who will distribute food and clothing vouchers to families in need in our local area this Christmas. Thank you all!

Laudato Si’ Action Platform Steering Group

“Everyone’s talents and involvement are needed.” (Laudato Si’ 14)

At the beginning of this year, the College initiated a Laudato Si’ Action Platform Steering Group comprising of representatives from the OLSH Sisters, College staff, parents and grandparents. The Laudato Si’ Action Platform is a unique collaboration between the Vatican, an international coalition of Catholic organizations and “all men and women of good will,” (LS 3) offering tools and resources for the journey towards empowering communities to take “decisive action, here and now” as we journey towards a better future together (LS 161) caring for our common home.

Previously the Executive Director of Catholic Earthcare Australia and now a member of the Vatican Ecology Taskforce Jacqui Remond (OLSH College Class of 1991) has facilitated six formation sessions with the College Laudato Si’ Action Platform Steering Group.

Thank you to Jacqui Remond, Anne O’Loughlin, Sr. Liz Taylor, Penny Regan, Margaret Palmer, Di Byers and Penny Golding who have been a part of this key initiative at the College.
