You did it! While there might have been challenges through the year, we as a learning community have been able to find ways to continue to build our learning capacity. Over the past fortnight, we had a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the success of our community at the Regnet Christus Awards Ceremony. Many students were celebrated with an official award, but that doesn’t tell the story of our whole community. All learners across all year levels should be celebrated for working consistently throughout the year. As you begin to reflect on the year that you had, spend time thinking about your successful moments, as well as how you continue to improve in 2023.

Kickstart has been a successful change in our community as it allows us to look to 2023 and begin the learning journey again. For our senior students, this shift into the next year of VCE is an important time as it sets the scene for important learning that will take place next year.

While the Kickstart is only three weeks, VCE students will have reading and learning tasks to complete over the long break, with a view to ‘hitting the ground running’. All students, staff and families should also be mindfully planning to have time away from their screens and readings to charge the energy over our time away. Well done to all on such a successful 2022!

Student excellence and values celebrated

We celebrated Regnet Christus day recently, recognising excellence and achievement of our students in all aspects of life at the College including academic achievement, consistent application to studies, performing arts, sport, applied learning and a demonstration of the OLSH pillars.

Academic Excellence awards were presented to students who averaged 90 per cent or higher across all subjects and Consistent Application to Studies awards were presented to students who work to the best of their ability, always striving for their personal best.

The Regnet Christus Awards were presented to students who embrace and live fully our OLSH spirit. These students embody what it is to be a heart person – someone who is faith filled, who reverences relationships, who pursues excellence and who touches the hearts of others – and who personify our motto Regnet Christus, May Christ Reign.

A number of major awards were announced, including the Glen Eira Awards and awards for achievement in the performing arts, sport, leadership and the Principal’s Award. The morning culminated in the presentation of our highest awards – the Marie Louise Hartzer Award for the student who displays the values lived by Marie Louise and the Jules Chevalier Award for outstanding contribution to the College over their six years as a student.

During the ceremony, we were also entertained by our OLSH College jazz band, VET Dance students Amelie Philipsz and Kristina Tsagatzones and VCE Music Student Persephone Anitppa.

Congratulations to all students for their hard work this year. We are proud of you all.

Visual Arts and Design on show

The creative talents of our students were on display recently at our Visual Arts and Design exhibition. Our OLSH Centre was filled with photography, sculpture, textiles, paintings, drawings and visual communication pieces from across all year levels and our Product Design and Technology students presented their work in a runway show.

Thanks to families and friends for attending and to all students and staff who contributed to such a wonderful event.
