“Celebrations infuse life with passion and purpose. They summon the human spirit.”
Terrence E. Deal

Together we celebrate! Term 4 has certainly enabled our community to celebrate what makes us uniquely OLSH Bentleigh. After three years we have finally been able to recognise our student body by revisiting some of the traditions we were unable to do during the pandemic.

House – at the House level we wished our dear Year 12s goodbye and thanked them for their guidance and support during Learning Mentor classes.

Student Leadership – we celebrated the contribution of the student leadership team 2022, for their contribution and for reminding us to continue to “live with heart and have no regrets”.

Celebration Concert – we were entertained and joined together in great spirit and fun to reminisce with the Class of 2022.

Graduation Mass and Valedictory Dinner – we joined together at St Pauls to give thanks for each member of the Class of 2022 and prayed for each of them and their families .

Final Assembly – we said a heartfelt goodbye and thank you to the Class of 2022 and, joined with their parents to participate in their final roll call. We listened to the words of our College Captains Emily Collins and Joanne Bradshaw as they reflected on their time at OLSH College.

“Don’t worry about who’s on top, who’s winning, because many a time they’re not aware of who is one step behind them. But you, you know exactly their every move, you are prepared to put your foot on the pedal, watch, learn and work as hard as you can to push the boundaries and expectations. And if you do find you’re on top, continue to work as if you’re one step behind” – Emily Collins
“The memories at this school shaped who we are today… and from today, we no longer get to make those memories. No more school Masses where we would sing our hearts out or dress up as superheroes for a good cause. No more recess and lunchtimes where we playfight, laugh, and scream at each other, all in the name of love. The emotions we experience today are because of the love and nurture this school provided to shape us into who we are today.” – Joanne Bradshaw

Two Lorraine Francis Award winners

Congratulations to Claire Kinsella and Charlotte Bree who are this year’s recipients of the Lorraine Francis Community Award. The Award is given by Bentleigh MP, Mr Nick Staikos who said both Claire and Charlotte were great positive role models who lead by example.

Claire was recognised for her work at the RSPCA caring for animals and training other volunteers and Charlotte was recognised for her contribution to Lifesaving Victoria’s water safety programs and for working with children with disabilities.

Well done to you both and thank you to Nick Staikos MP for visiting the College to present the award to Claire and Charlotte.
