Jules Chevalier Leadership Investiture Ceremony

On Wednesday this week, we witnessed the investiture of our 2023 Student Leadership Team. Comprising of the Senior Executive Leaders, Regnet Christus Leaders and House Leaders, our ceremony was filled with meaningful symbolism.

Students and staff members brought forward the symbols of leadership and service – the book of the Gospels, a lit candle, blessed oil and a water and towel. Ms O’Loughlin washed the hands of our new leaders and Sr. Liz Taylor anointed each one with blessed oil.

In the handing over of leadership, we also had the opportunity as a school community to thank our 2022 student leaders, presenting them with a rose and rousing applause. We thank them for all they have done to lead our College community and we wish our new student leadership team every blessing and success as they lead us into 2023, making the love of Jesus known in word and deed.

We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Take up your cross and walk the road of service with courage and generosity. There’s no room for cowards!”

Outreach at OLSH

Once a month, students spend a Tuesday afternoon baking muffins to be shared with the street community who access food and friendship at the St. Kilda food van.

Come and join in the fun! This generous service also gives students points towards College Colours.

Here are some reflections from students who are currently volunteering for this outreach activity.

‘If all we have to do to brighten someone’s day is make a few muffins, then I’m really happy to do it!’ – Eve Morphett (Issoudun)

‘Muffin baking gives people the opportunity to receive food that is something small, easy to carry and homemade.’ - Zara Longton (Issoudun)

‘We all take muffins for granted and some people don’t receive these. It’s a chance to do something for others by making something nice for them. Instead of going home and eating time, we can do something fun and useful that helps others.’ - Roma Narayan (Issoudun)

‘Muffin baking is important because some people aren’t as well off and making these muffins is a small way to make a difference in our world.’ - Jasmine Draper (Year 8)

‘When you think of muffin baking, it’s another way to help others. It’s our way of showing love and compassion towards them.’ - Meira Sayal (Year 8)

Young Generations and the Environment competition

We have received some great entries for our Young Generations and the Environment competition. On behalf of the Environment Team and the Performing Arts Captain, Aria Pisano, I would like to say a big thank you to all the students who provided a submission responding to the theme Young Generations and the Environment. Here are a few of the entries. We look forward to announcing the winners in the following weeks.
