This week signals the final classes for our Year 12 students and the beginning of their final sets of exams. We are incredibly proud of the journey that all of our students embark on, and this cohort continues to work hard and seek the support they need with their learning.
With each of our students, the partnership between school and home is so important in helping students reach their full potential. We are praying for our students as they move through these final weeks of school at OLSH College.
Over the past weeks, we have seen many moments of learning that enable our students to have real-world thinking, such as our Year 8s and 11s out on Geography Fieldwork. Our Health and PE team created a wonderful week of activities to celebrate Health and PE Week at the College, which culminated in fun and interactive experiences. Year 10 and 11 courses are almost completed, with the focus turning to their exam period in November. A steady study regime will support the experience and allow for students to feel confident as they work through their exam program.
Term 4 should be used by all students to continue to refine their skills and learning processes with an eye on 2023. Teachers and Learning Mentors are always looking to have supportive learning conversations throughout the term. Enjoy term 4!
Olympiad 2022 has completed with many Year 7 and 8 students participating in the five Olympiad competitions and lunchtime trainings during terms 2 and 3. Congratulations to all who participated, with a special shout out to Holly Norris (Year 8) who achieved a maximum score of five on the last competition.
There is a new study design for VCE Mathematics commencing in 2023. Consequently, there will be no second-hand maths texts available for purchase. Please ensure you purchase new copies for your daughters in VCE next year.
If you are purchasing second-hand copies of the Year 7 to 10 textbooks, ensure they are the correct versions and that you purchase the code needed to access the online components of the curriculum.
Our Year 8 Geography students spent the day on the waterways in Melbourne, studying the impact of erosion, natural disasters and man-made structures on the environment.
They visited Dights falls and the confluence of the Merri Creek and Yarra River, spending time sketching the area and taking photographs. A highlight of the day was time spent at a site of Indigenous significance to the Wurundjeri people, the burial site of Billibellary
