Issoudun XIII: Hartzer Group 2, 2025

A time to remember - the 48th Opening of Parliament House. Group 2 Hartzer had the privilege of witnessing this historic event. It was an honour to be part of such a momentous occasion: to be welcomed to Country through traditional dance and song, to hear from both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, and to sit in the Great Hall alongside those who represent the people of Australia. Over three enriching days, we explored Canberra’s iconic landmarks and learned the stories that shape our nation.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

"I really enjoyed going to the National Museum of Australia, and having the opportunity to see some of the interesting exhibitions full of cool artefacts." - Evelyn W

"I really enjoyed visiting the Mint, and learning about how specialty coins are made for important historical events. I learnt about the three robots who help the staff with both minting and transporting the coins." - Kara

"I really enjoyed looking at all of the artworks inside the NGA it was an amazing experience and I wish we could go back. I learnt more about what went on in the war and different experiences soldiers and matrons had during their time on the mission."- Larissa

We received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Australian War Memorial for the respectful way in which our Hartzer Group 1 students approached their visit to the Memorial in June. Well done to all of you.
