What a start to the year of Sport at OLSH. Enthusiasm is at an all time high, even with the change of seasons and signs of colder weather, not deterring our high spirits!
The Indoor Cricket Teams had a spectacular day on Wednesday 2 April, with our teams playing six games over the day; skill and strategy were in abundance enabling the Junior (4 out of 6 wins) and Intermediate (undefeated) teams to make the Grand Final matches. In nail biting matches, the juniors missed the win by only a few runs, while the intermediates were so closely matched with the other team, the result was a tie - a "super over" and some clever tactics were not enough though, and the inters sadly lost by just 1 run!
Fit Club and Run Squad have re-commenced for 2025, and Term 2 Sports trials ,and training, are in full swing. Basketball, Badminton, Futsal and AFL provide opportunities for team competition, while Athletics and Cross Country allow students to perform at an individual level too.
Week 2 of term is a big one, with both the CGSAV Basketball Tournament at MSAC on 30 April, and the House Athletics Carnival on Friday 2 May! The House Carnival is a wonderful event for the College as a whole, to develop connections and build our community!
Finally, a big thanks to all the staff who have contributed to the success of our athletes over the term! The early starts for training get harder with Winter approaching too quickly - but we love seeing students active and achieving, so it's all worth it!
