The Art of Gratitude

In a recent conversation with one of the OLSH Sisters at Hartzer Park, she told me about a letter she found in the tea area after our Issoudun Group 3 students had departed. She had saved it for me to see. She was filled with so much gratitude, was moved by the kind thought and was full of joy. The letter read:

“Dear Sisters, thank you so much for your hospitality throughout the past month. I have grown so much on this camp. I have learnt a lot about myself, life and I have built so many new habits. I am so grateful for the memories I have made here, and I hope you know that. I am so sad to leave and can’t wait to see you in Year 12. The conversations I have had have always been filled with much joy and interest. Your genuine positive energy really touched me and left me in a better mood. Thank you from Eme.

Research tell us that when we are filled with gratitude our lives seem more fulfilling and we look at things with a more optimistic mindset. It helps us to build better relationships, improves quality of sleep and overall wellbeing. The Art of Gratitude is simple and costs nothing. It starts with a simple step of focusing on the things we are grateful for each day, sometimes it’s in the smallest things and moments that gratitude can be found.

We give thanks for the many opportunities that we receive each day and for each other. Start with observing and then sharing your gratitude with others.
