Seeing the College with new eyes

During a recent Religion class, Sister Liz took our Year 12s on a walk around the College pointing out key aspects that reflect our charism and our history, bringing a new perspective and deeper understanding for many students.

“We found that the talk really opened our eyes to the school. It allowed us to see the hidden gems, such as the heart shaped ring around the statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Now when entering school, we notice things we might not have before. The talk about the aboriginal piece of art was very inspirational. All in all I think we definitely know more about the school than we did before.” - Rhianna and Emma

“The tour of the school with Sister Liz taught us about the many aspects of our school that have a beautiful, mysterious meaning. We are grateful to find ourselves in an environment and a community that prioritises the wellbeing and love of each individual. We noticed many things that we had never noticed before, and found it interesting the attention to detail that was given in creating our school with such valuable and symbolic monuments.” – Alexandra, Olivia, Chanelle, Lily, Emilia and Mia

“We learned to start looking at the little things around school, that have a huge amount of meaning and tell story on story about our beautiful school. I learned to appreciate the history of this school and how it came to be the way it is today.” - Jess

“I really enjoyed walking around with the class and learning about the hidden features in school. It was interesting to learn how much thought was put into designing the school and the surrounding environment.” - Heidi and Eve

“During our time with Sister Liz, Amelie and I learned that the statue at the front of the school has a much deeper meaning. Jules has been deliberately placed in front of the hall as OLSH was his dream and his creation and we host all our assemblies, masses and celebrations in that space. Marie Louise Hartzer has her arms open as welcoming to old and new visitors into our sacred school and space.” – Lara and Amelie

Reflections from the Year 11 Retreat

Loving God,

We thank you for blessing us with Moira Kelly’s presence and learning about all the incredible work she does for the less fortunate. She has inspired us in so many ways.

We pray for the OLSH Sisters in their 150th year and their continued humanitarian work so needed around the world. May they always feel supported and loved by our OLSH community.

We pray in thanks for our connections which have deepened on this retreat. We are grateful for our friendships which make us feel loved and valued.

We give thanks to all the teachers and staff who have accompanied us during this retreat. We thank them for taking time away from their families to look after us and guide us. May they enjoy the rest of the retreat and know how much we appreciate them.

Loving God, hear us.
Loving God, hear our prayers.
