It has been a busy start to the year for our Student Executive who have helped to lead our first assembly and Opening Mass and have welcomed our new students in all year levels. They have also spent time planning their activities for the year ahead, so stay tuned for more details!
Over the holidays, they participated in the Australian Student Leadership Conference presented by yLead, further developing their leadership skills and connection with the College. It was a valuable opportunity to build deep relationships with other leaders and learn the importance of being vulnerable and not being scared of judgement.
As we start the year, we asked the Student Executive to tell us a little more about themselves. Read their profiles below.
It is with such great enthusiasm that I undertake this year as a leader working with and amongst my peers to make a positive difference amongst our OLSH community. I am truly so excited for this final year of high school; one that I know will be a little challenging, yet so memorable, transformative, fun and full of joy! So I thought I would share a bit to get to know me!
Personally, I love the simple things in life! Whether it be taking my dog Simba on walks, board games with my family, heading off to the beach, reading or bike riding through the sunsets. I love to have fun and enjoy quality time with the amazing people I am so blessed to have in my life!
I have always wanted to travel to Italy! I would love to experience the food, culture, language, history in Italy; it sounds so incredibly breathtaking! It has definitely been at the top of my bucket list, particularly Naples, Rome and Florence!
The advice I would give to my younger self is Dare to be different, follow your heart and flourish from within. For me, individuality is a beauty; it as a superpower that we all possess that make us all so inherently beautiful and special in our own ways. Thus, I would advise my younger self to be not scared to be different; to embrace her own unique strengths and characteristics. As it is when you are your authentic self, and believe that you can do it, that you will do it!
I am super excited to join with the leadership team to bring connection and love to our school community! I am currently completing Year 12, and my favourite subject is Psychology as I love learning about the psychological processes that run through our minds and bodies!
One of my favourite OLSH memories would have to have been my 2021, Issoudun Hartzer Experience, where we had the opportunity to make new connections with the girls in our year level and really get to know one another. I loved how vulnerable and comfortable the space was between us, and I was also able to meet and get to know many new people!
One of the things I am most looking forward to this
year is making long lasting and quality memories for my last year of secondary
school, that I will take with me as I journey through life!
I have journeyed through OLSH since year 7 and have developed many crucial skills and values that have led me into leadership this year. I love playing sports and spent a lot of time on the school teams - especially before VCE.
I currently play soccer, work at Chemist Warehouse and am a member of my youth group committee. This year, my goal is to maintain a balance between sport, work, school and family, so I can build valuable connections with the people around me.
I love the beach and enjoy going paddle boarding, especially around reefs, as the serenity and peacefulness of the ocean ground me. I would consider myself a smiley person, as it stretches across my face most of the day!
I am looking forward to reaching out into our community to help individuals feel valued and empowered to put themselves out there and pursue what makes them truly happy. Let’s create a year filled with love, connection and joy!
As I have been at OLSH since Year 7 I have had the privilege of experiencing so many wonderful things, but by far my favourite memory would have to be Year 11 retreat!! I had the absolute best time with my friends, learning about how to find our passions in life and uncovering what we wanted our futures to look like.
As someone who loves so many different aspects of life, like science, the literary world, the legal system and the power of culture and heritage, I find it hard to pick just one subject that is my favourite. I love Legal Studies but also have a burning passion for biology, however I really don't discriminate!! I truly am open to learning anything and everything from all walks of life.
As its my final year at OLSH College, I am often reminiscing about earlier years with the Senior Executive and one thing we all agree on is: Do not take life for granted, live in the moment because there are blessings, big and small, all around us!
Remember to enjoy the year ahead, focus on yourself and your passions and remember to take every opportunity that comes your way because you never want to miss a shooting star!
