Connection to each other may be abstract and may be invisible but we know when it happens the profound effect it has on making people feel valued, loved, and feel they belong. Connection is something that you feel. In threading, the number of plies twisted together to create thread, the thicker and the stronger the thread will be. As members of this community we are called to thread kindness, thread genuine care for others and to thread love, despite how challenging this may be at times. At OLSH this is called Reverence Relationships. The greater the number of plies we thread together at OLSH the stronger the thread will be and thus the stronger our community will be.
Each Tuesday our student leaders have created opportunities for each Learning Mentor group to learn about each other and to make connections. A question is posted on Be True Tuesday enabling each girl in the learning mentor group to share their answer. “If you could be any day of the week, which one would it be and why? Follow the student leadership Instagram post each Tuesday for more questions.
Last Friday we also recognized the National Day Against Bullying, the theme is growing connections to help prevent bullying. When we grow connections in our community we feel safe, feel we belong and valued for who we truly are.
Our Issoudun students, through their Nous Sommes and Hartzer programs, spent an intensive time building and growing connections with each other. Researcher Brene Brown would say that connections and belonging are our deep desire to be a part of something that is bigger than ourselves. When you truly belong and feel connected you don’t need “to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are”. Brene Brown.

Delivered over six weeks, it is a small-group, interactive course presented by Liz Kelly who is an education and parent education consultant.
