Building our OLSH spirit

The leadership team started off Term 3 with some great new initiatives to help foster the OLSH spirit. On the 17th of July, the Regnet Christus Leaders - Jana Halidas, Demi Lambiris, Iris Morphett and Charlotte Strom - launched their initiative, Pillar A Term or PAT for short.

Each term, students will be encouraged to exemplify two of the OLSH pillars through suggested activities.” - The Regnet Christus Leaders

The pillars for Term 3 are Reverencing Relationships and Touch the Hearts of Others. The first activity for the term is Dare to Care, pertaining to the pillar Reverencing Relationships. Every Monday, the Regnet Christus leaders will be posting a dare for the students, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone and help spread kindness around the school. The first Dare to Care was “Talk to someone you don’t know very well in your Learning Mentor group”, and it was great to see lots of students reaching out to others.

Last week, the Faith and Mission Leaders also launched a new initiative called Thoughtful Thursdays which will run every second Thursday in homerooms. The focus for each Thoughtful Thursday will be either Love, Joy, Peace, Patience or Kindness, aligning with the scripture, Galatians 5:22: “The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness”. On Thursday the 20th of July, students responded to five questions pertaining to the theme of Love. It was a great way to get both students and staff to think about the multitude of things in their own lives that they love and make them feel loved.

Additionally, Performing Arts Captain, Isabel Stewart, held the first Stage Fright Friday on the 21st of July. It was a great Open Mic lunchtime, giving students the opportunity to perform in front of a small audience. We look forward to seeing this initiative, and the many others, grow over the rest of the year.
