First stop...Canberra

Hartzer Group 1 had an early start on Monday morning, setting off for their four week program in Bowral, NSW. Before they started their time at Hartzer Park, they spent two days in Canberra, visiting the old and new parliament houses, the Australian War Memorial, the electoral office and Regatta Point. They met with Zoe Daniel MP, local Member for Goldstein at Parliament House and learnt how to cast a vote at the electoral office. At Regatta Point, they learned about the design of Canberra and it's major landmarks.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of the Civics and Citizenship education. The Australian Government funds $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. We acknowledge and thank the Government for this opportunity.

Visiting artist inspires

Nous Sommes students completing the Art elective spent the day with Melbourne multimedia artist Nathan Ferlazzo, creating beautiful pen and ink pieces featuring nature and wildlife. The style features intricate details and in some cases, the animals are adorned with leaves and floral patterns.

Nathan brought in items that feature his work, digitised onto bags, mugs, candles and books to demonstrate how this work translates to these products. At the end of the workshop, the gallery of finished pieces by the students was inspiring.
