Dear Family and Friends of OLSH College,
Congratulations to all students and staff on the work, dedication, kindness and sincerity that has characteristically been so much a part of these past 10 weeks of school. On this Holy Thursday we now move into the first term break. We take with us the learnings, the achievements, the failures, the sense of connectedness and fun, the Heart Spirit in that have all been so evident in our journey across this first quarter of 2023. May each student, staff member and families have time across the break to reflect, refresh and re-create. In this fast-paced world we live in it is now time to enable our souls some time to ‘be’.
May you enjoy the reading of this newsletter. Importantly, I share with you the very pleasing progress of our current Building Program at the College. Our Hall foyer and the performing Arts Centre foyer have now been opened up in order to join them together for undercover access to both and we begin to prepare for an installation of a lift, new bathrooms, stage dressing rooms, and a refurbished drama, music and food studies precinct. In addition the College Hall will have a complete refurbishment and upgrade. It is expected that the project will be completed just prior to the VCE Examinations in late October.
As we move into the greatest feast of in our Christian tradition we might take time to reflect on the wisdom of the highly respected and acclaimed Franciscan, Priest Richard Rohr.
How do you view the journey of Jesus today?
The death of Jesus is either the end or it is the beginning. The Jesus journey either tells humankind that love is victorious, and the risk is worth taking or it chronicles a sad and meaningless walk into despair.
Our faith is a choice against despair and against abandonment. Our hope is not just a hope for good fortune; it is a radical hope for God —that God is, in fact, who God should be—a love that we can understand.
