As we approach the end of the school year, we reflect and remember on the many memorable moments that allowed us to come together as a school community. The students of OLSH College Bentleigh have united as a student body through the many celebrations and events that we hold close to our hearts and display core values of our school.
In raising money for our friends at St. Vincent De Paul, we have had many advent fundraisers organised by the four houses Sweeney, Chevalier, Harter and Xavier, such as a bake sale, sausage sizzle, crazy sock day and raffle baskets. These advent fundraisers, along with our trash and treasure stall, where the girls sold new and repurposed items, have allowed the students of OLSH College to come together in their generosity of heart and donate out of the humility that lives within, and defines us.
We also congratulate all the Year 12 students who completed their exams, and the Year 10 and 11 students who completed their Semester 2 exams. It can be a challenging time, but it is also an opportunity for students to grow in their discipline and find a way to manage schoolwork and exam workload.
Throughout these last three weeks of kickstart, we have had time to adjust to our new classes, allowing us to get to know our teachers as guides and mentors for the next year.
A huge congratulations to Sweeney for winning the Regnet Christus Cup! Their hard work and team effort truly paid off as the students of the house united in courage, strength and joy. They focused rather on participating in as many events as possible, rather than winning everything, which ensured their final win of the Cup at the end of the year.
Although 2023 has absolutely flown by we have been extremely lucky to have had a fun-filled year with many challenges and opportunities for growth. We are so extremely grateful for the teachers and supporters that surround us at OLSH College. Their guidance and direction continues to shape us into the future innovators we have been called to be. We look forward to all that 2024 will bring, as we step into the year as a school community founded upon togetherness and unity.
