News from our Student Leaders

The student leadership team and the student body overall have had an amazing start to 2023!

With just one day's notice, OLSH was able to raise over $2,000 to support Syria and Turkiye soon after the earthquakes occurred. The proceeds went to Caritas Australia which has teamed together with other Caritas organisations to provide human assistance to those who were affected by the earthquake. A massive thank you to the student leaders who helped collect money at the start of the day, and to all those who donated.

Our first initiative of the year was Valentine’s Day, where the Year 11 leaders spread love through touching the hearts of others. Students were greeted in the morning with a sticky note on their locker which had a compliment to help brighten their day. During lunch, students gathered in the hall to listen to music chosen for the 'heart' theme of the day. Then finally, as students were leaving at the end of the day, the student leaders handed out red heart lollipops at the gates. The Year 11s did an amazing job preparing for and running the day (as the Year 12s were away) and we hope the school community could feel the love that they fostered.

The Leadership Team had a great morning together on Shrove Tuesday, making and selling pancakes to the College community. In total, we raised $501.10, which is an amazing start for our Lenten Appeal!

We hope to continue building the spirit of giving throughout the Lent period so that we can help those in need.
