Can you believe it’s already the end of Term 1! Before you continue to read, we want you to take a second to take a deep breath and reflect on the past 10 weeks. Think of a moment when you gave something a go, when you took the dive. Think of the ripple effect you may have created - if you had an influence on someone or something else's actions, or created a chain of reaction.
Linking to our theme of ‘Take the Dive, Start the Ripple’, we want everyone to reflect on this term. Think of those times you might have created a ripple effect with or without even realising it. Heading into next term, our aim is for everyone to take as many opportunities as they can, to make a positive ripple effect for themselves, or the people and places surrounding them.
In recent weeks, a big focus though the College has been the season of Lent! Lent marks a special time of preparation, where we think about all of our blessings and give thanks for all the love around us.
To celebrate, we have had numerous initiatives throughout the school that are all raising money for Caritas’ project compassion and the OLSH Sisters overseas aid. These aim to empower those living in poverty and bring clean, safe water to people all around the world!
Each house designed their own Lenten Appeal, selling various food stalls to catch the eyes and nose of all students around the halls. These activities included:
Sweeney: Snow cones
Hartzer: Ice Cream Cups
Xavier: Sausage Sizzle
Chevalier: Bake sale
Cheerfully, each House's Lenten Appeal resulted in great successes, with lines of students and staff eagerly waiting for a tasty feed!
The Student Leadership team also contributed with promoting St Patricks Day Coin line, our annual easter hampers and a guess the jar with loads of chocolates and easter treats.
Leading into next term, there are exciting times are ahead! Our annual Performing Arts Spectacular or better known as PAS, is making its way to the stage, with the theme launch this week. Our energetic House Captains alongside our Performing Arts captain Niki Georgas, were elegantly dressed up representing the themes and drew out of a hat to decide which theme and character go to each House, marking the beginning of PAS preparation. These leaders have been eagerly working to create the two themes each House has to follow, and will be soon joined by the entire leadership team and House to make their mini musical come alive! More of the PAS theme below...
Finally, on behalf of the Student Executive and the whole leadership team, we wish everyone a safe, exciting holiday. Take the time to have a break, rest and recharge for the fun filled term ahead. To all parents, staff and students, we hope everyone enjoys the remaining Lent season and upcoming Easter break, spend the time to look out for and be with surrounding family and friends, soon enjoy lots of chocolate and Hot-Cross buns together!
