Finishing the year on a high note

We have two final music concerts coming up in the Performing Arts Centre to conclude a huge year of music at OLSH.

  • Tuesday 25 November, 5 to 6pm: Instruments and Ensembles
  • Tuesday 2 December, 5 to 6pm: Vocal and Choral Concert

We hope you can join us as we showcase the work of all our College musicians.

We are starting a new series featuring our College musicians, to learn more about why they study music and their journey at OLSH taking up performing arts opportunities. Here are our first two students.

Spotlight on Music

Mia, Year 10

As a student who has been doing individual voice lessons at OLSH since year 7, I cannot recommend instrumental music lessons enough! Instrumental music lessons have been an incredible opportunity for me to extend my love for music outside of the traditional classroom environment. Through my one-on-one lessons I have been able to explore a variety of different genres of music and also significantly increase my skill and confidence, not only just in singing but moreover in performing. What’s more, through instrumental music lessons I have been able to join OLSH’s choirs in which I have made a number of new friends who I wouldn’t have met hadn’t it been for my lessons!

Spotlight on Music

Violet, Year 10

Being part of the Instrumental Music Program has been such a great experience. Through my lessons, I’ve improved a lot and gained more confidence in my playing. Being a part of the Jazz Band has been a highlight, it’s a relaxed and fun group, and it’s been great learning and performing together this year. My teacher has also been really supportive, creating an encouraging environment that makes music even more enjoyable. I’m really glad I’ve had the chance to be part of the program over the years and I have really grown as a musician.
